The Women & Child Development Programme
Women
& Child Development wing of ATI, WB develops a training module on
Women & Child Development for block functionaries of West Bengal.
This module was developed through various seminar & workshops
involving Government officials, Social Activists, and eminent persons
of training & development field of West Bengal as well as India.
This project is supported by UNICEF, Kolkata. This training module is
designed through a holistic outlook. This is a generic module. This
can be of use for any level of development officials, Panchayet
Representatives and civil societies.
After
a series of general and issue based workshops, a trial run of the
draft module was organised in Maldah, North 24 Parganas &
Bardhaman districts of West Bengal. Participants were from Six (6)
block level functionaries i.e., Kaliachalk I & Kaliachalk II of
Malda district, Sandeshkhali I & Sandeshkhali II of North 24
Parganas district and Raina I and Jamalpur Block of Bardhaman
district. Those trial runs were held in training hall of Kaliachalk
II, Sandeshkhali II, Jamalpur block.
From
the feedback and assessment of the draft module, workshops and
meetings were organised with scholars and experts in this field. After
several discussions the module took a final shape. Methodology of the
module is user friendly. Jargon free language is used in the reading
materials. As a result it can be used in every level of capacity
building programme.
Two
(2) Training of Trainers (TOT) programmes were held in ATI, one was
for district level officials and another for Panchayet Representatives
of district level and civil Societies who are working in the field of
Women & Child Development in west Bengal.
The
final module is being circulated to trainers in TOT programmes. On
basis of the TOT, several workshop will be organised in District and
block level. The Second phase training programme of block level was
held in February 2007 at Kaliachalk II block of Maldah district.
The
final module is being translated in to Bengali & Nepali language.
